Oscar Flores-Montero (he/him) is the Curatorial Assistant of Contemporary Art and joined the BMA team in 2023. Prior to his role at the BMA, Oscar served as the Sherman Fairchild Curatorial Intern at The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C. During his tenure, he closely supported a range of exhibitions, including Seeing Differently: The Phillips Collects for a New Century, Inside Outside, Upside Down, and Jacob Lawrence: The Migration Series.

Oscar’s passion for promoting equity and representation in the art world led him to further internships at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. In the American Art Journal department, he helped establish the Toward Equity in Publishing program, an initiative aimed at rectifying the inequitable conditions prevalent in the field of American art history. His dedication continued as he transitioned to the Registrar’s Office, and eventually, he assumed a full-time role as a Program Assistant at Transformer Gallery in Washington, D.C.

Oscar received an MA from Georgetown University in art and museum studies and a BA from Elon University in arts administration.
